Each stamped original hand-colored etching from the ornithology studies of Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon (1707 - 1788); realized by the prolific bird illustrator, Françoise Martinet; complemented by later handmade frame mountings of brilliant red and blue Murano glass.Provenance: Out of 1,007 stamped editions from Leclerc's Histoire Naturelle, only thirty-six depict parrots and are considered the most beautiful.
